Mark Wiseman has been Canada's Ambassador to the United States since February 2026. A career investor, he served as President and CEO of the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board from 2012 to 2016 and then as Global Head of Active Equities at BlackRock. He chaired the Alberta Investment Management Corporation from 2020 to 2023 and co-founded FCLTGlobal, which promotes long-term investing. Before his appointment he was a senior advisor and Chairman of Canada at Lazard. He began his career as a lawyer at Sullivan & Cromwell and clerked for Justice Beverley McLachlin at the Supreme Court of Canada. He holds law and MBA degrees from the University of Toronto and an LL.M. from Yale, where he was a Fulbright Scholar.
