Cason Carter serves as the Global Head of Public Affairs at Citadel, one of the world’s leading alternative investment firms, and Citadel Securities, a preeminent global market maker. He leads global public-policy strategies and civic-impact initiatives on behalf of Citadel Founder and CEO, Ken Griffin.
Carter plays a central role in shaping Ken Griffin’s philanthropic initiatives through the Griffin Catalyst, advancing large-scale, measurable solutions to pressing public challenges. His work spans expanding access to high-quality education, strengthening America’s civic institutions, accelerating breakthroughs in biomedical research and supporting resilient, thriving communities. He partners closely with leaders across government, civil society, and the philanthropic sector to drive impact at scale.
Beyond his professional responsibilities, Carter is a committed advocate for pediatric cancer research. He serves on the Board of CureSearch for Children’s Cancer and as a trustee of the Scott Carter Foundation, which works to accelerate cures for childhood cancers. He also serves on the Board of the Philanthropy Roundtable and the Board of Visitors of Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy. Most recently, he became Chair of the Board for Success Academy Charter Schools Florida, supporting the expansion of high-quality charter education in the state.
Carter earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and holds a B.A. in Public Policy Studies and Economics from Duke University.
