E. Janset Batibay
- Director, U.S.-Türkiye Business Council Next Generation Fellowship
E. Janset Batibay is an international nonprofit executive and bilateral relations leader with more than fifteen years of experience advancing cross-cultural dialogue, institutional partnerships, and high-level engagement across the United States and Türkiye. Her career reflects a sustained commitment to strengthening ties between East and West through diplomacy, leadership development, and principled stewardship of mission-driven initiatives.
In her role as Director, Janset leads the US-Türkiye Business Council’s Next Generation Fellowship, a new initiative connecting talented Turkish students and young professionals in the United States with American companies—fostering career development and deeper economic ties between the two countries.
From 2017 to 2022, Ms. Batibay served as Executive Director of The American Turkish Society (ATS), a New York-based nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering cultural, economic, and diplomatic relations between the United States and Turkey. Reporting directly to and working closely with the Board of Directors, she was responsible for the organization’s strategic direction, operational oversight, financial sustainability, and public representation.
During her tenure, ATS convened senior leaders across government, business, media, and the arts to deepen bilateral engagement. Ms. Batibay directed more than twenty annual programs, including the Society’s flagship fundraising gala and the New York Turkish Film Festival, both of which served as prominent platforms for cultural diplomacy and institutional partnership.
She also established and led the “Meet the Ambassadors” roundtable series — a Chatham House Rule forum convening United States and Turkish Ambassadors and senior diplomatic officials for substantive dialogue on bilateral and regional issues. The series became a respected platform for candid exchange and relationship building among policymakers and thought leaders.
In parallel, Ms. Batibay oversaw the Young Society Leaders (YSL) program, a selective initiative convening accomplished American and Turkish professionals committed to strengthening long-term ties between the two nations. She guided the program’s strategic direction, participant selection, and alumni engagement, cultivating a network grounded in shared purpose and sustained dialogue.
Following her leadership at ATS, Ms. Batibay served as Director of Engagement and Outreach at the Council for Inclusive Capitalism, where she worked within a global network of corporate and institutional leaders advancing inclusive economic frameworks. In that capacity, she led executive engagement initiatives, supported strategic growth efforts, and coordinated high-level stakeholder relationships across multiple regions.
She subsequently served as Director of Communications and Media Relations at the Fragrance Creators Association in Washington, D.C., overseeing strategic communications and strengthening institutional visibility at the national level.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Batibay held roles at Herrick, Feinstein LLP in New York, supporting international business development initiatives, and served as Representative to the Honorary Consul of Niger in Ankara, Türkiye. In the latter role, she facilitated engagement between Turkish business leaders and Nigerien government officials and contributed to organizing an emergency humanitarian food aid initiative during the 2010 famine in Niamey.
Ms. Batibay holds a Master of Science in International Communication Management from The Hague University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands and a Bachelor of Science in Translation and Interpretation (English–Turkish–French) from Bilkent University in Ankara. She is fluent in English, Turkish, and French and has extensive experience navigating complex cross-cultural environments with discretion, integrity, and diplomatic sensitivity.
Her professional work has consistently centered on advancing constructive dialogue, fostering mutual understanding, and stewarding initiatives that bridge diverse communities across national, cultural, and institutional boundaries.
