Gary Cohn is Vice Chairman of IBM, where since 2021 he has worked with the company's leadership on business development, public advocacy and client relationships. He served as Director of the National Economic Council and Assistant to the President for Economic Policy under President Donald J. Trump in 2017 and 2018, leading the administration's push to pass the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Before government he spent more than 25 years at Goldman Sachs, serving as President and Chief Operating Officer from 2006 to 2016. He is Lead Independent Director of Apollo, Chairman of Pallas Advisors and a trustee of NYU Langone Health. He began his career at U.S. Steel and as a commodities trader in New York.
