Matthew Sappington

Matthew P. Sappington is counsel at the U.S. Chamber Litigation Center, the litigation arm of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. In this capacity, he handles a variety of litigation matters for the Chamber.

Before joining the Litigation Center, Sappington practiced as an associate in the D.C. office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP. He represented clients in the automotive, e-commerce, education, retail, and telecommunications sectors, with a focus on complex litigation and employment matters.

Sappington served as a law clerk to the Honorable Amalya L. Kearse of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the Honorable Michael M. Mihm of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois. He graduated Order of the Coif from the University of Michigan Law School, where he served as an Articles Editor for the Michigan Law Review, and summa cum laude from Northwestern University, where he received a B.A. in History.
