Catherine Sandlin Dority is the Vice President of Marketing for Explore Charleston, also known as the Charleston Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, of which she has been on staff since 1998. Ms. Dority is responsible for the marketing of the Charleston area, overseeing a team that utilizes all mediums of communication and operates as an in-house creative and advertising agency. Ms. Dority also serves as a liaison to state and federal elected officials, as well as their staff, communicating the importance of the hospitality industry and relaying its needs. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the College of Charleston and a Masters of Science in Travel & Tourism from Temple University.

She currently serves as the President of the SC Association of Tourism Regions as well as a member of the Board of Directors of the SC Restaurant & Lodging Association and the Board of Directors of the College of Charleston Alumni Association. She previously served on the National Board of Trustees for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute of Organization Management and the College of Charleston's Cougar Club. Ms. Dority received the Order of the Silver Crescent from Governor Henry McMaster in December 2017 for 20 years of service at Explore Charleston. Ms. Dority not only serves as a guest lecturer at the College of Charleston in the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, she also volunteers as a mentor to a student in the Schottland Scholars program for the School of Business.

She and her husband, Roland Dority, reside in Charleston, SC, with their daughter and yellow lab. They are active members of Grace Church Cathedral where she serves on the Vestry and the Hospitality Committee. The Doritys also enjoy spending time outdoors in the lowcountry, going to Clemson football games and cheering on the College of Charleston basketball team.
