WASHINGTON, D.C. - “On Thursday, December 31, 2020, we unexpectedly lost a dear friend and accomplished colleague, Richard Bates. We extend our deepest sympathy to his family, the entire Disney team, and all those who knew and loved him.

“Richard was beloved and highly respected for his professionalism, accomplishments, keen insights, and leadership. For those of us who had the honor and good fortune of working with him, he was especially loved for his compassion, wit, and kindness. Richard set the bar high and achieved many victories, not only for Disney but for so many others as well, all with his trademark grace and good humor.

“On behalf of Chamber members and colleagues, we extend our sincerest condolences to his wife, Rose, and sons, Ricky and Chris. We also extend our sympathy to his colleagues at the Disney Washington D.C. office who had the great good fortune of working with Richard over the years.”
