WASHINGTON, D.C.—The following statement can be attributed to Neil Bradley, executive vice president and chief policy officer, U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

“The MetLife & U.S. Chamber of Commerce Small Business Index published this week shows small business confidence growing due to vaccine availability, but also indicates there’s a long road ahead for recovery and more help is needed. Six out of 10 small businesses surveyed believe it will take more than six-months to return to normal.

“The U.S. Chamber applauds last night’s House passage of the Payroll Protection Program Extension Act of 2021 that gives small businesses two additional months to benefit from the SBA’s loan program. These funds continue to be a lifeline for Main Street employers and we urge the Senate to follow the 415 to 3 vote in the House.”
