The Chamber submitted a detailed response to the European Commission’s public consultation on the Digital Fairness Act (DFA), emphasizing the importance of fostering a balanced regulatory environment that protects consumers, promotes innovation, and ensures a competitive digital economy. The Chamber highlighted concerns about the growing complexity of Europe’s digital regulatory landscape, urging policymakers to focus on simplification, harmonization with existing laws, and addressing specific gaps without duplicating current frameworks.

The Chamber cautioned against overly broad or duplicative measures that could create unnecessary compliance burdens, limit consumer choice, or hinder innovation. It called for simplification measures, such as reducing consumer information requirements for repeat transactions and harmonizing cooling-off periods for digital and physical goods.
