HIAWATHA, IA – The U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Free Enterprise Express Opportunity Tour made a stop today at Crystal Group in Hiawatha, Iowa for a business tour with Rodney Davis, Head of Government Affairs at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Joe Mitchell, and local business and chamber leaders.
Davis and Mitchell were joined by Nicole Crain, President of the Iowa Association of Business and Industry, for a tour of the Crystal Group facility led by company president, Aaron Maue. Crystal Group is a small manufacturer that has been a part of the Hiawatha community for more than 35 years, employing nearly 250 people and operating as a 100 percent employee-owned business.
“Communities like Hiawatha show how free enterprise creates opportunity, supports good-paying jobs, and strengthens local economies,” said Rodney Davis, Head of Government Affairs at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “It was great to join Joe Mitchell for a tour of Crystal Group, a company that has been an important part of the Hiawatha community for more than three decades. Crystal Group’s story is an excellent example of how free enterprise empowers businesses to grow, adapt, and deliver value for their employees, customers, and communities."
The national Free Enterprise Express Opportunity Tour is a six-week trip through 20 states and more than 50 events to make the case for free enterprise in communities across America and push back against growing support for government-directed economic policies that threaten economic freedom, opportunity, innovation, and growth.
The effort is part of a broader Chamber initiative, the New Fight for Free Enterprise, a multi-year effort to organize, mobilize, and make the case for free enterprise everywhere public opinion is shaped, public policy is made, and future generations learn what it takes for people and communities to thrive.
