LOUISVILLE – The U.S. Chamber of Commerce convened business and community leaders today, as part of its Free Enterprise Express Opportunity Tour, in partnership with One Louisville and the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. The discussion centered on the role of free enterprise in addressing affordability challenges, expanding housing opportunities, and supporting long-term economic growth. Leaders also emphasized the need for permitting reforms that reduce barriers to development.
The event brought together Kate Shanks, Senior Vice President of Public Affairs at the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, James Higdon, Senior Advisor of Public Policy and Advocacy for One Louisville, Jonathan Burks, Senior Vice President of Policy at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and local business leaders.
“The business leaders who create jobs, solve problems, and open doors of opportunity in their communities are the foundation of free enterprise,” said Jonathan Burks, Senior Vice President of Policy at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “Our discussion reinforced the idea that free enterprise is the most powerful force for improving quality of life. We appreciate One Louisville and the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce’s partnership in advancing policies that foster growth and protect the principles that make opportunity possible.”

The national Free Enterprise Express Opportunity Tour is a six-week trip through 20 states and more than 50 events to make the case for free enterprise in communities across America and push back against growing support for government-directed economic policies that threaten economic freedom, opportunity, innovation, and growth.
The Opportunity Tour is a part of the U.S. Chamber’s New Fight for Free Enterprise initiative, a multi-year strategic effort to defend, protect, and promote free enterprise.
