WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. Chamber announced its latest issue advocacy spending in Iowa which highlights policy proposals affecting Iowa’s agricultural sector, health care affordability, and economic competitiveness.
“The whole state benefits when Iowa families keep more of what they earn. Tax relief and a competitive business environment help Iowa employers invest, expand, and create jobs, strengthening local businesses, communities, and the state’s economy. The U.S. Chamber supports efforts that expand opportunity for families and businesses in Iowa and across the nation,” Neil Bradley, Executive Vice President and Chief Policy Officer of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, said.
“Iowa thrives when our families are able to keep more of what they earn. Meaningful tax relief and a competitive business climate allow Iowa employers to invest, expand, and create jobs, which strengthens our local communities and the state’s overall economy. The Iowa Association of Business and Industry proudly supports federal legislative efforts that expand opportunity for families and businesses in every corner of the state,” Nicole Crain, President of the Iowa Association of Business and Industry, said.
The campaign, in partnership with the Iowa Association of Business and Industry, encourages Iowans to learn more about how these tax policies are benefiting working families and small businesses and to make their views known about policies that affect jobs, investment, and economic growth.
The campaign also builds on the Chamber's broader New Fight for Free Enterprise initiative. That work includes free enterprise endorsement events and roundtables across the country, the recently launched Opportunity Tour - a six-week trip through 20 states and more than 50 events spotlighting the businesses, workers, and communities driving growth and opportunity, and the historic $100 million contribution supporting the initiative. The Chamber has also held Free Enterprise Forums with incoming members of Congress from both parties and shown support for the bipartisan Congressional Free Enterprise Caucus.
About the ad:
“Protecting Iowa” highlights three issues affecting Iowa families, farmers, and workers:
- Protecting farmers: Supporting the “Save Our Bacon Act” to prevent states such as California from imposing agricultural production standards on Iowa pork producers.
- Reducing surprise medical bills: Backing bipartisan legislation that would automatically cover newborns under their mothers’ insurance for 30 days and help families avoid unexpected costs.
- Providing tax relief: Supporting deductions for qualified tips and overtime pay, as well as additional tax relief for eligible Americans age 65 and older.
The ad's script can be found below:
We need to protect Iowa from higher costs.
When California politicians tried to bully Iowa farmers, Congresswoman Ashley Hinson wrote legislation to stop them.
When surprise medical bills threatened Iowa families, Hinson cosponsored the bill to stop them.
And with higher costs hurting all of us, Ashley Hinson voted to cut taxes on social security, tips, and overtime.
Call and ask Congresswoman Hinson to keep fighting to protect Iowa farmers and families.
