CHARLOTTE, NC – The U.S. Chamber of Commerce hosted a series of Free Enterprise events in Gastonia and Charlotte, North Carolina, today during stops on the Free Enterprise Express Opportunity Tour.

Courtney Felts, Senior Vice President, Head of Marketing and Messaging Strategy, and Managing Director of the New Fight for Free Enterprise at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, did a walking tour of downtown Gastonia with the Gaston Business Association and local business owners and recognized Rep. Tim Moore (R-NC-14) with the Advocate for American Business Award. Felts then toured IFAB Corp. with Michael Whatley.

The Free Enterprise Express later traveled to Charlotte, where Felts joined Rick Wade, Senior Vice President of Strategic Alliances and Outreach at the U.S. Chamber, in hosting a discussion on free enterprise aboard the bus with students from Johnson C. Smith University, a Historically Black College and University.

“North Carolina’s vibrant economy is proof that free enterprise works,” said Felts. “We’ve seen it in revitalized downtowns, long-standing industries adapting for the future, and a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship across the state. The Opportunity Tour is here to elevate those stories, celebrate the people and businesses who make their communities strong, and support candidates and lawmakers who are committed to economic growth.”

The national Free Enterprise Express Opportunity Tour is a six-week trip through 20 states and more than 50 events to make the case for free enterprise in communities across America and push back against growing support for government-directed economic policies that threaten economic freedom, opportunity, innovation, and growth.

The effort is part of a broader Chamber initiative, the New Fight for Free Enterprise, a multi-year effort to organize, mobilize, and make the case for free enterprise everywhere public opinion is shaped, public policy is made, and future generations learn what it takes for people and communities to thrive.
