GREENSBORO, NC - The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Greensboro Chamber, recently convened a roundtable discussion with Rep. Addison McDowell (NC-06) and local business leaders. The conversation focused on the importance of a new federal surface transportation bill to support North Carolina’s economy and communities.
The event, part of the U.S. Chamber’s national infrastructure tour and the Keep America Moving initiative, continues to build momentum for renewing long-term federal funding for the nation’s roads, bridges, transit programs, and other freight and surface transportation infrastructure, which is scheduled to expire later this year.
“I appreciate the U.S. Chamber, the Greensboro Chamber, and Volvo for bringing together transportation and business leaders from across North Carolina,” said Congressman McDowell. “Listening to the people who rely on our roads, bridges, and freight network every day is vital as Congress works to reauthorize our surface transportation programs. We need to provide the long-term certainty needed to support economic growth, strengthen supply chains, and keep America moving.”
“North Carolina businesses depend on efficient transportation systems to move products, connect workers to jobs, and support growth in communities across the state,” said Moore Hallmark, Vice President and Managing Director of Regional Government Affairs at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “The U.S. Chamber thanks Congressman McDowell for taking the time to discuss the importance of safe transportation infrastructure with local businesses and stakeholders. Hearing directly about where investments are needed and why a strong federal partnership matters is critical to North Carolina’s future.”
Keep America Moving is a U.S. Chamber initiative that builds support for federal surface transportation reauthorization—set to expire on September 30, 2026—by convening events in congressional districts nationwide and engaging policymakers in Washington.
