WASHINGTON, D.C. — Statement by Suzanne P. Clark, President and Chief Executive Officer of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, in support of Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo’s visit to China to foster dialogue and address concerns:

“The U.S. Chamber of Commerce welcomes Secretary Raimondo’s trip to China for dialogues with her Chinese counterparts and other senior Chinese officials. The Secretary’s visit is critically important given the complexity and challenges in current U.S.-China commercial relations and the rising concerns about the risks and uncertainties American businesses face in the market.

The United States and China have many points of conflict, the successful resolution of which requires frank dialogue. The U.S. Chamber strongly supports efforts to safeguard our national security and values, while optimizing the areas of commercial opportunity where we can and should engage productively without posing any risks.”
