WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, May 12, 2022, on the margins of the ASEAN Summit, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce hosted Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh of Vietnam for a discussion with key U.S. business leaders, U.S. Trade Representative Ambassador Katherine Tai, and the US-ASEAN Business Council.

“Vietnam has established itself as leader in the ASEAN region. Not only has trade grown, but Vietnam’s commitment to structural and fiscal reforms is serving as a model to other countries,” said Myron Brilliant, Executive Vice President and Head of International of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “Now we hope both governments will seize the opportunity to deepen economic ties by working together, along with other key trading partners, to enhance economic integration through the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework.”

Today’s dialogue with Prime Minister Chinh covered several important issues, including stability and security of energy supplies, the digital economy as a driver of economic growth, the growth and resilience of Vietnam’s health sector, and the importance of strengthening trade ties.
