U.S. Chamber President and CEO Suzanne P. Clark penned an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal on Sunday January 22, 2023, highlighting the stakes of the Chamber’s fight against the Federal Trade Commission’s overreach. Recently, the Federal Trade Commission issued a proposed rule banning the use of non-compete clauses in all employer contracts.

In her op-ed, Clark argues that the Federal Trade Commission does not have the authority to promulgate competition rules under its authority granted to it by Congress. Should this rulemaking be allowed to stand, other even more destructive rules would be sure to follow.
