The COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc on America’s small businesses. The U.S. Chamber has been fighting for legislation to support small businesses for months, but more must be done to ensure they can weather the pandemic and continue to reopen and rebuild.
More than half of small businesses believe it will take six months to a year before the small business climate returns to normal, according the Chamber’s latest Small Business Coronavirus Impact Poll, and 78% remain concerned about the impact of coronavirus. Many worry about having to close again, or stay closed, if there is a second wave of COVID-19.
The U.S. Chamber played a central role in shaping and securing passage of the CARES Act, then worked to ensure that Congress re-funded the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and allowed flexibility in its implementation. Now the Chamber is working to ensure Congress continues to pass targeted, temporary, and timely assistance as Main Street companies begin the long road to recovery.
