TO THE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE COMMITTEE ON COMMERCE, SCIENCE, AND TRANSPORTATION:

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce supports the nomination of Don Graves to be Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Mr. Graves has a strong resume that will serve him well as the second-in-command for the Department. He has a strong track record of engaging with the business community throughout his career in public service, including during his time at President Clinton’s Department of the Treasury, as Executive Director of President Obama’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness, and as a Counselor to then-Vice President Biden. Mr. Graves also understands the perspective of the business community, having worked for many years in the private sector including having owned and operated his own small businesses.

We also expect that Mr. Graves will be a great ally in our collective efforts to strengthen small and minority-owned businesses, build an inclusive economy, and advance equality of opportunity for all Americans.

We trust that Mr. Graves will bring his strong work ethic, experience and character to the Department of Commerce and will prove to be an able deputy to Secretary Raimondo. We thank the Committee for scheduling the March 10 hearing.

Sincerely,

Neil L. Bradley
