WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Chamber of Commerce today issued the following statement regarding the Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) newly released Innovation Exemption:

"The U.S. Chamber of Commerce appreciates the SEC's commitment to digital asset innovation, representing one of the most significant changes to the U.S. capital markets system," said Mike Flood, senior vice president of the U.S. Chamber's Center for Capital Markets Competitiveness. "We urge the agency to proceed in an open, collaborative, and deliberative manner, as we will be carefully monitoring the progress of and commenting on its newly released Innovation Exemption. The Chamber's goal is to ensure that it strengthens — and does not weaken — the most liquid and respected capital markets system in the world.

"Public companies, the majority of which are Chamber members, have an important role in deciding the availability of their shares to trade under this set of new rules. As the digital asset landscape continues to evolve, including through tokenized assets, we believe the United States government should continue to foster the same fair competition, market integrity, transparency, and investor protection that has led to the most respected capital markets system in the world.

"Should the SEC decide to make any portion of the program permanent, it is critical that it undertake formal rulemaking with notice and comment from the public, as it is the best means to ensure any changes to our capital markets regulatory landscape are good policy."
