The U.S. Chamber's latest advocacy campaign, which is supported by the Ohio Chamber of Commerce, highlights how tax relief is helping Ohio families keep more of what they earn while supporting small businesses, workers, and economic opportunity across the state.
Our new advertisement, “It Matters Ohio,” highlights several provisions delivering tax relief for Ohioans, including no federal tax on qualified tips and overtime, an expanded Child Tax Credit, and a permanent 20% small business deduction. The law allows eligible workers to deduct up to $25,000 in qualified tips and up to $12,500 in qualified overtime, while increasing the Child Tax Credit to as much as $2,200 per qualifying child.
The benefits also extend to Ohio’s small businesses and economy. The permanent 20% small business deduction protects 842,000 Ohio job creators, estimates from the Tax Foundation show an average tax cut of $3,173 per Ohio filer in 2026.
Among the key public officials who backed these efforts in Washington is Senator Jon Husted. He supported the Working Families Tax Cuts Act and has advocated for provisions aimed at helping Ohio families and small businesses. As he has said, Ohio’s interests helped drive his work on the legislation from start to finish.
Ensuring that families can keep more of what they earn and that businesses have the certainty they need to invest, remains an important priority for Ohio workers, employers, and communities. Tax relief on tips and overtime, a larger Child Tax Credit, and permanent relief for small businesses can help strengthen household finances while creating more opportunities for workers and job creators across the state.
Our campaign encourages Ohioans to learn more about how these tax policies are benefiting working families and small businesses and to make their views known about policies that affect jobs, investment, and economic growth.
Ohio families and businesses have a lot at stake. Senator Husted is one of the key people working to advance policies that help his constituents keep more of what they earn and create more opportunities for workers and small businesses – and Ohioans should urge him to continue this important work.
