OSSINING, NY – The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Business Council of New York State, Inc., and the Business Council of Westchester recently hosted U.S. Representative Mike Lawler (R-NY-17) for a roundtable discussion in Ossining, New York with local business leaders on the need to extend pro-growth business tax provisions before portions of President Trump’s 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) expire at the end of the year. Doing so will create new opportunities for American workers and businesses to thrive.

Absent Congressional action, the country will see the largest automatic tax increase in American history. U.S. Representative Mike Lawler is on the frontlines, working to ensure that the constituents of the 17th District of New York will not face this massive tax increase at the end of 2025.

“The U.S. Chamber thanks Congressman Mike Lawler for his steadfast advocacy in extending key provisions of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act,” said Stephen McAllister, Vice President of the Eastern Region at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “His continued leadership reflects a strong commitment to free enterprise, economic growth, and job creation. Congressman Lawler is playing a critical role in these negotiations, working to ensure continued prosperity for the residents of New York’s Seventeenth District and communities across the country.”

“It was a pleasure to join the Chamber of Commerce for a productive discussion on the state of our local economy,” said Congressman Lawler. “Too often, federal policy prioritizes Wall Street while Main Street is left behind, but small businesses are the engine of growth in the Hudson Valley. I’ll continue working to lift the SALT cap, reduce burdensome regulations, and ensure our small business owners have the tools and support they need to grow and thrive.”

“This event was an excellent opportunity to hear from the Congressman and discuss the impact of Washington's policies on our hometowns and local economies,” said Heather Mulligan, President and CEO of the Business Council of New York State, Inc. “Beginning with his time in the state legislature, Congressman Lawler has always been a strong advocate for New York’s economy and a champion for small businesses. There is tremendous value in having such a vocal proponent like Congressman Lawler fighting for us in D.C.”

The U.S. Chamber’s tax roundtables and business tour are the latest effort in its  Growing America’s Future campaign, an education and advocacy blitz in support of maintaining a pro-growth tax code to foster a robust U.S. economy that benefits all Americans. These events will continue over the coming months in communities across the country.
