WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with A Better Balance, National Women’s Law Center, the American Civil Liberties Union, and the National Partnership for Women & Families applauded the House Committee on Education and Labor approval of the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, by a bipartisan vote of 29-17.

“Ensuring that expectant mothers have every option to stay active in the workplace is good for women, families, and business. This legislation reduces confusion by establishing clear guidelines and a balanced process that works for employers and employees alike,” said Neil Bradley, U.S. Chamber Executive Vice President and Chief Policy Officer. “Today’s markup is a clear example of what Congress can accomplish when working together, we thank the members who worked so hard to make today’s vote possible and we look forward to the full House taking up this bill.”

Before today’s markup, a coalition letter was sent to the House Committee on Education and Labor stating support for the legislation. Click here to read the letter.
