WASHINGTON, D.C.– The U.S. Chamber of Commerce today announced two new hires for its Congressional team, adding to the bench of experts charged with providing membership services and grassroots lobbying across the Chamber’s seven regional offices. These additions further cement the Chamber’s ability to serve our members of every size and sector across the country.

With offices organized into seven regions: Eastern, Southeastern, Midwest, Southwest and South Central, Great Lakes, Northwest, and Western, the U.S. Chamber team meets businesses where they need us the most and connects those relationships to every level of government.

Shavenor Winters has joined the Chamber as a Manager for the Northwest Regional Office, and Laura Manion has joined as a Manager for the Great Lakes Regional Office.

“We are thrilled to have Shavenor and Laura on our outstanding Congressional team,” said Jack Howard, Senior Vice President of Government Affairs, U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “Their experience in policy, government affairs, and grassroots organization in their respective regions is incredibly valuable as we build on our efforts to engage partners and stakeholders in the Northwest and Great Lakes regions and continue to advocate for policies that help businesses of all sizes and industries.”

Shavenor Winters joins the Chamber from Innovative Federal Strategies in Washington, D.C., where she managed legislative priorities for clients in the defense and domestic policy sectors. Prior to that she was a legislative aide in the Office of U.S. Senator Patty Murray, overseeing a policy portfolio that included cyber security, civil rights, immigration, small business, and transportation, among other areas. A graduate of Washington State University Vancouver, Winters previously held positions in government relations and external affairs at Washington State University.

Laura Manion comes to the Chamber from Villanova University in Pennsylvania, where she was responsible for strengthening the university’s relationships with government officials and agencies, civic and business associations, and community-based organizations. A graduate of Franklin and Marshall College and West Chester University, Manion previously held roles in grassroots operations and fundraising for the Republican Party of Pennsylvania and the Republican Committee of Chester County.

The Chamber is executing on a strategic plan of action to ensure that the Chamber’s advocacy, influence, and impact strengthen in the years ahead. That plan includes launching a new State Policy Initiative to improve coordination with our partners on issues of national significance under consideration at the state or local level. The Chamber also will expand our powerful grassroots network across the country to put the full force of the business community behind our efforts. These latest hires will help strengthen the Chamber’s ability to take on state fights wherever they emerge and continue the Chamber’s work in leading the fight against forces that threaten growth and job creation.

The Chamber has remained powerful for over 100 years because—like our members—we are constantly innovating, improving, and investing for the future.
