Dear Leader McConnell and Democratic Leader Schumer:
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce strongly supports S. 1982, the Save Our Seas 2.0 Act of 2019, and urges swift consideration of this legislation.
This bipartisan legislation, which is made up of bills reported by the Commerce, Foreign Relations, and Environment and Public Works committees, would help address the significant challenges associated with plastic marine debris.
The 2026 State of American Business
Discover what U.S. Chamber President and CEO Suzanne Clark and leading business leaders are saying about the state of the economy and the top issues shaping the domestic and global business landscape in 2026 and beyond.
The business community is making investments to bolster recycling and solid waste infrastructure at home and abroad. We are especially encouraged by the provisions of the legislation focusing on the role of the private sector and innovation to leverage these efforts by creating an innovation prize and a state infrastructure grant fund.
The Chamber hopes this legislation will be considered and approved by the Senate in the short term.
Sincerely,
Neil L. Bradley
