There are pressures from all levels of government to addresss environmental and economic challenges related to PFAS management.
A central question is whether the technologies, financing, and regulatory architecture are in place to effectively remedy PFAS in the environment at scale. The short answer is: partially. Separation and treatment technologies capable of removing PFAS from drinking water are commercially available and widely deployed.
This white paper entitled “PFAS Treatment Technologies Landscape and Policy Outlook” evaluates the technology landscape for monitoring, treatment, disposal, and destruction of PFAS, the cost and deployment barriers public and private operators face, and policy approaches that can help close the gaps needed to accelerate cleanup of PFAS in the environment, based on the best science and risk management.
