WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Chamber of Commerce today issued the following statement on the SEC's Rule 14a-8 shareholder proposal rulemaking:

"For too long, special interests have exploited Rule 14a-8 to advance their own agendas at the expense of public companies and their shareholders," said Mike Flood, senior vice president of the U.S. Chamber's Center for Capital Markets Competitiveness. "We commend the SEC for seeking a long-term solution to this problem and for its ongoing work to encourage more businesses to go public."
