SCRANTON, PA – Today, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce hosted U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan (R-PA-08) for a roundtable discussion in Scranton, Pennsylvania with local business leaders on the need to extend pro-growth business tax provisions before portions of President Trump’s 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) expire at the end of the year. Doing so will create new opportunities for American workers and businesses to thrive.
“Congressman Bresnahan is a true leader advocating for businesses, communities, and families across the Commonwealth, its Eighth Congressional District, and the nation,” said Ryan Gleason, Senior Government Affairs Manager at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “Our roundtable featured local business leaders to discuss the importance of tax reforms, especially for Main Street. The Congressman has a proven track record in understanding, as successful a small business owner and member of the House Small Business Committee, the importance of pro-growth tax reforms. We appreciate his work and thank him for fighting for Pennsylvania businesses. We also appreciate our partnership with Pennsylvania and Greater Scranton Chambers.”
“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and tax policy plays a vital role in their growth, hiring, and success,” said Congressman Bresnahan. “I appreciate the opportunity to hear directly from our local business leaders and remain committed to advancing tax policies that support working families. I want to thank the U.S. Chamber for their partnership as we work to strengthen our communities here in NEPA.”
“The Chamber is proud to be a voice for our small business community, working hand-in-hand with elected officials to ensure their needs are heard and addressed,” said Bob Durkin, President of the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce. “Tax cuts have created a pathway for small businesses to grow, hire, and reinvest in our region—and that momentum matters. I’m honored to work alongside Congressman Bresnahan and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce by hosting the Small Business Roundtable. Our focus is to continue to advocate for policies that empower our local entrepreneurs to thrive.”
“The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act delivered meaningful relief to job creators and helped fuel economic growth here in Pennsylvania and across the country,” said Luke Bernstein, President and CEO of the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry. “Making those provisions permanent is essential to providing the certainty businesses need to plan, invest, and grow. We’re proud to partner with the U.S. Chamber and the Greater Scranton Chamber to help ensure the voice of business is heard, and we’re grateful to Congressman Bresnahan for bringing stakeholders together and leading on pro-growth federal policies.”
The U.S. Chamber’s tax roundtables and business tour are the latest effort in its Growing America’s Future campaign, an education and advocacy blitz in support of maintaining a pro-growth tax code to foster a robust U.S. economy that benefits all Americans. These events will continue over the coming months in communities across the country.
