Today, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce announced new issue advocacy spending in Iowa and Maine. The Chamber’s Voter Education Program will spend an estimated seven figures in the state of Iowa mentioning Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) and similarly in Maine mentioning Senator Susan Collins (R-ME).

The Chamber’s communications in Iowa will reach suburban women and seniors regarding the negative impacts of Green New Deal policies. In Maine, the communications will focus on the necessity of additional pandemic relief for small businesses and will similarly target seniors and suburban women. Our efforts will reach constituents directly through a variety of means including digital and TV advertising.

“The Chamber’s number one priority is to advance pro-business policies in the Senate,” said U.S. Chamber CEO Thomas J. Donohue. “For more than 108 years, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has advocated for policies that help businesses create jobs and grow our economy. Sens. Ernst and Collins are champions of pro-growth policies that will move American businesses and workers forward amid a historic economic downturn caused by the coronavirus.”

In an effort to advance pro-business policies, the Chamber has also endorsed the re-election of 18 incumbent senators: Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.V.), Bill Cassidy (R-LA), Susan Collins (R-ME), John Cornyn (R-TX), Tom Cotton (R-AR), Steve Daines (R-MT), Joni Ernst (R-IA), Cory Gardner (R-CO), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS), James Inhofe (R-OK), Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Martha McSally (R-AZ), David Perdue (R-GA), Mike Rounds (R-S.D.), Ben Sasse (R-NE), Dan Sullivan (R-AK), and Thom Tillis (R-N.C.). The Chamber has also endorsed candidates in open and challenger Senate contests: Bill Hagerty (R-TN), John James (R-MI), Jason Lewis (R-MN), Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), and Roger Marshall (R-KS).

The Chamber will have additional announcements in the coming days regarding our advocacy and political efforts. The Chamber’s voter education advertisements can all be viewed here.
