WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, following the Secretary Hegseth's announcement of plans to transform the defense acquisition system, Keith Webster, President of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Defense Aerospace Council, released the following statement:
"The U.S. Chamber welcomes Secretary Hegseth's bold, timely, and forward-looking transformations to the Pentagon's acquisition process. The secretary is taking steps to dramatically accelerate the adoption of new and advanced capabilities, and we support the administration's long-overdue transformation of foreign military sales (FMS). Flattening the bureaucratic chain of command, eliminating excessive reviews, and developing measurable performance will help deliver enhanced capability on time for the warfighter.
"Today's proposals strengthen America's national security posture and enhance our ability to support allies. By removing barriers that have, for too long, slowed innovation and deployment across the defense industrial base, Secretary Hegseth is positioning a broader range of firms to contribute to our national security strategy.
"The U.S. Chamber stands ready to work with the Pentagon, and all branches of government, to ensure these transformations are successful and that American businesses of all sizes can fully support the arsenal of freedom."
