TO THE MEMBERS OF THE U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES:

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is encouraged that the House will consider H.R. 2225 and H.R. 3593 to reauthorize two critical agencies – Department of Energy (DOE) and National Science Foundation (NSF).

These agencies serve unique foundational roles in America’s science and technology enterprises. DOE and NSF fund cutting-edge research at universities, national laboratories, and scientific user facilities. These activities are critical to ensure the long-term competitiveness of the U.S. economy and our global leadership in emerging technologies. Both bills authorize steadily increasing federal investments in science and innovation while enhancing DOE and NSF’s responsiveness to ongoing social challenges.

We also applaud the House Science, Space and Technology Committee’s thoughtful and bipartisan approach to crafting these bills. The Chamber looks forward to working with Congress on a bipartisan and bicameral basis to advance and improve legislation to strengthen America’s science and technology enterprises.

Sincerely,
