ERIE, PA – Today, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Erie Regional Chamber and Growth Partnership hosted U.S. Representative Mike Kelly (R-PA-16) for a roundtable discussion in Erie, Pennsylvania with local business leaders on the pro-growth business tax provisions in President Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), which was signed into law on July 4th. This forward-looking, pro-growth policy is vital to maintaining America's prosperity and competitive edge and will create new opportunities for American workers and businesses to thrive.
We applaud U.S. Representative Mike Kelly for working to ensure that the constituents of the 16th District of Pennsylvania continue to benefit from long-term tax relief, fostering growth for workers and businesses across his/her district and beyond.
“Congressman Mike Kelly has been a champion of advocating on behalf of businesses his entire life,” said Ryan Gleason, Senior Manager of Government Affairs at the U.S. Chamber. “As a small business owner and Chairman of the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Tax, his leadership was instrumental in making President Trump’s 2017 tax cuts permanent through OBBBA. We are grateful for Congressman Kelly’s continued partnership with the Pennsylvania Chamber and Erie Regional Chamber and his efforts to make Opportunity Zones permanent across the Commonwealth and the nation.”
“This year has been the Super Bowl of Tax. By passing the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, we are delivering historic tax relief for hardworking Pennsylvanians and Main Street businesses, both for today and for generations to come,” said Congressman Kelly, Chairman of the Ways & Means Subcommittee on Tax. “The One Big Beautiful Bill Act also includes my legislation to expand Opportunity Zones and make them permanent. Opportunity Zones have been a gamechanger for downtown Erie, investing hundreds of millions of dollars into areas that haven’t seen significant private investment in years. Small businesses are the backbone of any community. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act will allow them to grow and invest in the communities they call home.”
“The Erie Regional Chamber & Growth Partnership is excited to see several pro-growth policies advanced in this bill, including making permanent key provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act—like full expensing for business investments in equipment and research and development,” said Brandon Mendoza, President and CEO of the Erie Regional Chamber and Growth Partnership. “These measures create certainty and unlock innovation. In addition, the thoughtful revamping of Opportunity Zone legislation promises to channel much-needed private capital into both urban neighborhoods and rural communities seeking reinvestment and renewal.”
“We are proud to join the U.S. Chamber and Erie Regional Chamber & Growth Partnership to help drive important conversations on making Pennsylvania more competitive,” said Luke Bernstein, President and CEO of the PA Chamber of Business & Industry. “We also want to thank Congressman Mike Kelly for supporting the important provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and other key pro-growth policies that move our economy forward.”
The U.S. Chamber’s tax roundtables are a part of its Growing America’s Future campaign, an education and advocacy blitz in support of maintaining a pro-growth tax code to foster a robust U.S. economy that benefits all Americans. These events will continue over the coming months in communities across the country.
