POCATELLO, ID – Today, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Pocatello-Chubbuck Chamber of Commerce hosted U.S. Representative Mike Simpson (R-ID-02) for a roundtable discussion in Pocatello, Idaho with local business leaders on the pro-growth business tax provisions in President Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which was signed into law on July 4th. This forward-looking, pro-growth policy is vital to maintaining America's prosperity and competitive edge and will create new opportunities for American workers and businesses to thrive.
We applaud Congressman Simpson for working to ensure that the constituents of the 2nd District of Idaho continue to benefit from long-term tax relief, fostering growth for workers and businesses across his district and beyond.
“If we are to get back to sustained 3% GDP growth, we need policymakers who work to give businesses the tools they need to grow,” said Chris Eyler, Vice President of the Northwest Region at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “The tax cuts, credits, and deductions passed last summer by Rep. Mike Simpson and his colleagues not only accomplish this, but they also give businesses the tax certainty they need to invest and hire for the long-term.”
“The Working Families Tax Cuts may have been the most important vote I’ve cast since coming to Congress,” said Congressman Simpson. “I have spoken with Idaho seniors who receive Social Security and will pay no federal tax on their benefits, with Idaho farmers who will no longer be burdened by the death tax on family-owned farms and ranches, and with Idaho parents who will benefit from the permanent increase to the Child Tax Credit. After four years of record inflation and high prices, this legislation delivers real relief for hardworking Americans. As we enter tax season, Americans will feel the effects of this law, allowing them to keep more of their hard-earned money.”
“The Pocatello-Chubbuck Chamber of Commerce and the business community throughout Southeast Idaho would like to thank U.S. Representative Mike Simpson -2nd District of Idaho for his continued work for the citizens of Idaho,” said Matt Hunter, CEO of the Pocatello-Chubbuck Chamber of Commerce. “We appreciate his work to support the OBBBA which gives strength to the efforts of small businesses throughout our area. The permanence of this pro-growth tax policy at the federal level will provide stability for our strong business community and allow them to become even stronger.”
The U.S. Chamber’s tax roundtables are a part of its Growing America’s Future campaign, an education and advocacy blitz in support of maintaining a pro-growth tax code to foster a robust U.S. economy that benefits all Americans. To date, the Chamber has hosted over 80 tax roundtables, and these events will continue over the coming months in communities across the country.
