TO THE MEMBERS OF THE UNITED STATES SENATE:

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce strongly opposes S. Con. Res. 14, the FY 2022 budget resolution. It would enable a $3.5 trillion reconciliation bill that would dramatically expand the size and scope of government through record levels of inflationary spending, impose massive tax increases, and halt America’s economic recovery. We will consider including votes on this legislation and amendments in our “How They Voted” Congressional scorecard

The United States faces significant near-term and long-term budgetary challenges but rather than attempting to address those challenges, this budget resolution is being considered for the sole purpose of creating a mechanism to advance one of the largest fiscal packages in history on a completely partisan basis.

The success of the bipartisan infrastructure negotiations provides a much better model for how Congress should proceed in addressing America’s problems. We urge you to reject the budget resolution.

Sincerely,

Jack Howard
Senior Vice President
Government Affairs
U.S. Chamber of Commerce
