The Honorable Suzan DelBene
U.S. House of Representatives
Washington, DC 20515
Dear Representative DelBene:

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce applauds your leadership in introducing the Information Transparency & Personal Data Control Act,and we support this important bill.

Data is used for societally beneficial purposes such as research, fraud detection, financial inclusion, public safety, and improving health outcomes.[1] The data-driven economy is helping keep the “digital lights” on for many businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic, and it is imperative that consumers trust that their privacy is respected.

The Information Transparency & Personal Data Control Act is a much-needed step in the right direction toward protecting the privacy of all Americans equally. This bill would enhance certainty by offering consumers clear and meaningful rights and would enable the business community to continue innovating. The bill would ensure that consumers are afforded meaningful transparency that enables them to direct how personal information is used, collected, and shared.

We look forward to working with you and your colleagues to ensure the 21st century economy is inclusive and that all Americans can rest assured they have digital control over their privacy.

Sincerely,

Neil L. Bradley
