To the Members of the United States Senate:

As the U.S. Senate considers the nomination of Ms. Olivia Trusty to serve as Commissioner at the Federal Communications Commission, the U.S Chamber of Commerce offers the following observations. As demonstrated during her confirmation hearing and lengthy experience serving on Capitol Hill and in the private sector, Ms. Trusty is a highly qualified nominee whose policy expertise and record of collaboration will help ensure the United States remains at the forefront of communications policy and innovation. We urge the Senate to quickly consider Ms. Trusty’s nomination and look forward to working with her upon her confirmation.

During her confirmation hearing, Ms. Trusty focused on maintaining America’s technological leadership, enhancing our national security, and enabling the development and deployment of innovative communications technologies. She also reiterated the importance of connecting all Americans to the internet.  We further appreciate Ms. Trusty’s commitments to modernize regulations, including those in media and video marketplaces, to facilitate the deployment of submarine cable infrastructure, and to an FCC that regulates within its statutory authority and consistent with the First Amendment.
