The U.S. Chamber of Commerce recently concluded its third GreenTech Business Mission to the UAE. The Chamber’s GreenTech mission program connects companies ranging from startups to multinational corporations with climate & sustainability project partners & investment opportunities.

Above, Ambassador Strong opened the mission at the Chamber's Welcome Reception.

Building on the momentum of COP28, & the UAE’s continued leadership in energy diversification, the mission provided more than 40 delegates from 25 companies with opportunities to directly engage with UAE gov. officials & business leaders.

The UAE is an ideal partner & consistently demonstrates leadership by welcoming clean energy opportunities & investment. These conversations emphasized the vital role played by U.S. businesses to advance the energy transition.

H.E. Osama Amir Fadhel, Assistant Undersecretary, Ministry of Industry & Advanced Technology, & the Chamber's Marty Durbin.

Achieving Shared Sustainability & Economic Goals

The mission was certified by the U.S. Department of Commerce & featured high-level gov. officials from both the U.S. & UAE including:

·       The Honorable Martina A. Strong, U.S. Amb. to the UAE

·       H.E. Eng. Awaidha Murshed Al Marar, Chairman, Abu Dhabi Dpt. of Energy

·       Mazin Khan, CFO, Masdar

·       H.E. Osama Amir Fadhel, Assistant Undersecretary, Ministry of Industry & Advanced Technology

·       Ibrahim Al Z'ubi, Chief Sustainability Officer, ADNOC & Chair, MENA CSO Network

·       H.E. Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy & Petroleum Affairs, Ministry of Energy & Infrastructure

As the UAE advances its sustainability objectives & promotes long-term economic growth, collaboration with the private sector is essential to develop & integrate renewable energy technologies. Commercial officers from the U.S. embassy are effective partners as we help identify opportunities for U.S. companies to play a role in the UAE’s efforts.

Ibrahim Al-Zu'bi, Chief Sustainability Officer at ADNOC and Chairman of the MENA CSO Network, joins Steve Lutes, U.S. Chamber VP Middle East & Wael Ismail, PepsiCo’s VP, Corporate Affairs Africa, Middle East & South Asia, on a panel to discuss the importance engaging more solutions providers to pilot & scale new technologies.

In addition to the UAE, the Chamber has also led GreenTech missions to Egypt, Türkiye & Brazil, with others being planned.
