STERLING HEIGHTS, MI – The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Michigan Chamber of Commerce recently hosted U.S. Representative John James (R-MI-10) for a roundtable discussion in Sterling Heights, Michigan with local business leaders on the need to extend pro-growth business tax provisions before portions of President Trump’s 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) expire at the end of the year. Doing so will create new opportunities for American workers and businesses to thrive.
Absent Congressional action, the country will see the largest automatic tax increase in American history. U.S. Representative John James is on the frontlines, working to ensure that the constituents of the 10th District of Michigan will not face this massive tax increase at the end of 2025.
“Congressman John James is a Michigander through and through. As a businessman, he understands what it takes to make free enterprise thrive not only across Michigan’s 10th Congressional District, but across the state and the country,” said Ryan Gleason, Senior Manager of Government Affairs at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “Congressman James is fighting in Congress to make the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act permanent, which would positively impact businesses, consumers, and families across Michigan and the country. We are grateful for his leadership and partnership with local chambers, the Michigan Chamber, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.”
“I’m thankful to the business leaders across my district who joined us to discuss slashing costs, eliminating bureaucratic hurdles, and fueling economic growth for Main Street and our workers,” said Congressman James. “House Republicans, under President Trump’s bold leadership, are fighting tooth and nail to deliver the biggest tax cuts for hardworking, middle-class Americans in history with the One Big Beautiful Bill. This plan will ignite our economy, secure our borders, unleash American energy, and return fiscal sanity to Washington. I’m fighting to pass President Trump’s agenda to make Michigan the epicenter of the new American Golden Age.”
“From every corner of the state, thousands of business owners across Michigan directly benefit from the provisions of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA)," said Mike Alaimo, Senior Director of Legislative and External Affairs at the Michigan Chamber of Commerce. “Job providers have used TCJA deductions to reinvest in their people, their operations, and the communities they live in. We thank Congressman James for meeting with Macomb area business leaders to learn more about the real-world and positive impacts of the TCJA and why an extension is necessary to maintain and grow Michigan jobs and our economy.”
The U.S. Chamber’s tax roundtables are the latest effort in its Growing America’s Future campaign, an education and advocacy blitz in support of maintaining a pro-growth tax code to foster a robust U.S. economy that benefits all Americans. These events will continue over the coming months in communities across the country.
