At an age when many people are thinking about slowing down, Lisa Lane was just getting started.
The idea for Rinseroo didn’t come from a boardroom brainstorm or a high-tech lab—it came from a moment of everyday frustration. Standing in her shower at the Jersey Shore, trying to rinse soap off the walls and bathe her dogs with nothing but a cup, Lane had a realization that would quietly spark a business.
“I remember thinking, why isn’t there a simple hose I can just slip on when I need it and take off when I don’t?,” she said.
That question turned a routine annoyance into an opportunity. What started as a personal workaround evolved into a practical, scalable solution—one that now serves hundreds of thousands of households. Lane didn’t overcomplicate it; she recognized that if she had the problem, countless others likely did too.
What makes her story especially compelling is that she didn’t start with a blueprint or industry experience. She launched Rinseroo at 53 with no background in manufacturing or product development, while still working full-time. Everything—from sourcing to prototyping to logistics—was unfamiliar territory.
“I had zero background in manufacturing or product development… I knew I had a great idea but had no clue where to start,” Lane explained.
You don’t need all the answers at the beginning. You just need a belief in yourself, a willingness to learn and determination to see it to fruition.Lisa Lane, Founder of Rinseroo
Instead of waiting until she felt ready, Lane moved forward anyway. She leaned on online resources, asked questions, found mentors, and learned by doing. The process wasn’t smooth, and there were plenty of moments where walking away would have been easier. But she kept going, guided by a belief that her product solved a real, everyday problem.
“Persistence beats experience,” Lane said.
That mindset became the foundation of her growth. Over time, Rinseroo gained traction—not because it was complex or cutting-edge, but because it was simple, useful, and easy to understand. Its breakthrough moment came with an appearance on “Shark Tank,” where Lane earned Lori Greiner’s “Golden Ticket,” giving the brand a surge of visibility and credibility.
From there, momentum built quickly. Platforms like TikTok became powerful tools, allowing the product to demonstrate its value in seconds. The visual, problem-solving nature of Rinseroo made it ideal for social sharing, helping it reach a wider audience and convert attention into sales.
Lane’s journey offers a clear takeaway for entrepreneurs: you don’t need perfect timing or perfect knowledge to begin. What matters more is recognizing a real problem and having the willingness to pursue a solution, even when the path isn’t fully clear.
“You don’t need all the answers at the beginning. You just need a belief in yourself, a willingness to learn and determination to see it to fruition,” explained Lane.
She also brings a dose of realism to her advice. Not every idea will succeed, and not every product is worth pursuing. Doing the research—and being willing to walk away—is just as important as taking the leap.
Lane’s success is a reminder that innovation doesn’t have to be complicated to be powerful. Sometimes the most impactful businesses begin with a simple question—and the decision to follow it through.
