Based in Washington, Utah, Love vs. Design is a customizable wallpaper brand specializing in peel-and-stick, fabric, and traditional wallpaper solutions.

With more than 1,500 designs and over 200 color options per pattern, the company allows customers to personalize wallpaper in real time to fit their unique spaces. Built for modern living, Love vs. Design emphasizes high-quality materials, fast production, and renter-friendly design solutions.

To understand the company’s rapid evolution, Co-founder Eric Mortensen reflects on the challenges of building a manufacturing business from the ground up during the pandemic. Originally operating alongside their stationery company Basic Invite, the team pivoted into wallpaper production when event-driven demand declined, forcing them to quickly learn the complexities of in-house manufacturing.

“One of the biggest challenges we had to overcome as a brand new company was learning to be a manufacturer,” said Mortensen.

From sourcing industrial equipment to navigating technical hurdles like power requirements and RIP software integration, the early days tested the company’s adaptability and resilience. Mortensen recalls how hands-on the process became as the team built out operations from scratch.

“I have done every job in our company, most of the time in order to learn what we needed to do to get the product out the door,” Mortensen explained.

Despite these hurdles, Mortensen credits their experience in customer service, customization, and fast turnaround times for helping them maintain strong customer satisfaction as operations scaled. Today, Love vs. Design has grown into a highly rated brand, known for blending design flexibility with reliable fulfillment and craftsmanship.

Looking back, Mortensen emphasizes the importance of hands-on leadership and operational understanding across every stage of the business.

“Reducing uncertainty drives conversions,” added Mortensen.

He noted that tools like custom previews, samples, and accessible customer support have been key in building trust and improving conversions. Now six years in, Love vs. Design continues to expand while staying focused on making personalized, high-quality wallpaper accessible and easy for everyday consumers.
