Some organizations change lives one session at a time; others change the systems around those lives. Dynamic Therapy manages to do both. Founded in 2016, the Georgia-based speech and occupational therapy practice has grown into a multistate provider known for making high-quality, culturally responsive care available to individuals and families who often face the steepest barriers to support.
Today, the organization serves more than 400 clients and 12 schools each week through a mix of virtual and in-person services, helping students with communication, sensory, and motor-development needs.
A deep focus on community impact is a key reason why Dynamic Therapy was selected as a Top Honoree in the Community Champions category of the CO—100 Awards. This designation recognizes businesses like Dynamic Therapy that strengthen the places they serve — not only through growth, but through service, access, representation, and intentional support for their communities.
A commitment to access that goes beyond the clinic
Dynamic Therapy was built around a simple but ambitious idea: Everyone deserves access to communication support regardless of financial, geographic, or cultural barriers. The practice’s hybrid model of teletherapy and in-person services, along with its robust school-based partnerships, has allowed clinicians to practice across six states and provide support where it’s most needed.
“At Dynamic Therapy, we don’t just treat — we elevate, advocate, and inspire children to reach their fullest potential,” said Darius Thomas, Founder and CEO of Dynamic Therapy.
This mission of accessibility goes beyond logistics: Since its founding, Dynamic Therapy has written off more than $400,000 in claims and provides free therapy to those who would otherwise go without care.
“We serve children and families too often left behind, those in underfunded schools, households without insurance, those unable to afford co-pays, co-insurances, or deductibles, and justice-involved individuals in settings where silence has been survival,” Thomas added.
Dynamic Therapy’s recognition as a Community Champions Top Honoree underscores what its families and partners have long experienced firsthand: a business that grows by lifting the people around it.
Representation that reshapes the field
Dynamic Therapy’s impact is also rooted in who comprises the team. Speech-language pathology is a field where Black clinicians and male clinicians have long been underrepresented. Thomas built the organization with a desire to change that landscape and offer clients — particularly children — the chance to see themselves reflected in their providers.
“Only 3.6% of speech language pathologists are male, and just 4.63% are Black, despite these populations being much larger,” explained Thomas. “We openly address these disparities and actively work to change them.”
This representation reinforces the company’s broader clinical philosophy. Dynamic Therapy emphasizes cultural responsiveness, caregiver collaboration, and educational support to ensure each treatment plan fits the environment where a client lives, learns, and communicates.
For families navigating complex systems or cultural stigmas around therapy, this approach can be transformative. As Thomas put it: “We listen to the mother who’s been told her child will ‘grow out of it,’ the father who’s working three jobs and still can’t afford services, the teacher trying to hold it all together, and the child labeled ‘bad’ when they’re simply unheard.”
Building community through advocacy and shared progress
Dynamic Therapy’s influence extends beyond direct services. As a certified Minority and LGBT Business Enterprise, the company stands as a visible advocate for inclusive entrepreneurship and equitable access across the communities it serves. The organization also identifies as eco-friendly and incorporates sustainable practices into its operations — another reflection of its commitment to community well-being.
“At Dynamic Therapy, service is not just what we do — it’s who we are,” Thomas said.
That focus shows up in the practice’s clinical work and its focus on expanding representation within its field. Each decision, from client care to team culture to service expansion, is filtered through the lens of how the organization can build stronger, healthier communities.
Dynamic Therapy’s recognition as a Community Champions Top Honoree underscores what its families and partners have long experienced firsthand: a business that grows by lifting the people around it. Through access, representation, and a commitment to listening, the organization ensures that every individual — regardless of age, ability, or background — has the support they need to move forward with confidence.
