GENERAL SUMMARY 
 
The Executive Director (ED) of the Wellsville Area Chamber of Commerce (WACOC) is the chief operational and administrative officer of the organization. Duties are subject to the determination and direction of the WACOC Board of Directors (BOD) and are subject to change as needed. The ED manages the Chamber’s business affairs, properties, and staff and is responsible for initiating, implementing, and evaluating all aspects of Chamber programming and activities. Core responsibilities, noted herein include but are not limited to: day-to-day operations, long and short-range planning, member relations, policy analysis and recommendation to the BOD, and event management. Other duties may be temporarily or permanently added or subtracted from this position description. The ED is a visible member of the greater Wellsville community and residency in Allegany County (N.Y.) is required.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
The ED will possess a minimum Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in an applicable discipline from an accredited college or university at hiring and will demonstrate successful completion of an accredited director-level preparatory training program offered by the US Chamber of Commerce by his/her first employment anniversary. A master’s degree in an associated discipline is preferred. The ED will demonstrate a minimum of seven to ten years of successful service in a retail or business-related field prior to employment. The ED will also demonstrate significant oral and written communication skills.The ED will demonstrate mastery of selected computer applications and will show proof of the skills necessary to effectively manage business records and to market and promote the Chamber and its programs via the Internet and social media programs. Specifically, the ED will be proficient in:
 
• Microsoft Outlook, Internet Explorer, and Office Professional or a comparable product
• QuickBooks or a comparable product
• A current HTML generator or plug-and-play program for web applications
• Facebook, Twitter, and other selected social media applications
• Cloud computing
• Basic computer trouble-shooting skills
 
Salary is negotiable based upon qualifications. The position offers an appropriate benefits package and vacation and holiday benefits.
