U.S. Chamber’s files motion for leave to file on significant tax privilege issue
October 27, 2016
The U.S. Chamber filed a motion for leave to file an amicus brief in a tax privilege dispute in federal court in Seattle. The Chamber’s brief urged the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington to reject the government’s arguments for denying tax practitioner privilege and work product protection.
The Chamber’s motion for leave to file an amicus brief was opposed by the government and ultimately denied by the court.
Timothy J. O’Connell of Stoel Rives LLP and Todd Welty, Mark P. Thomas, Laura L. Gavioli, and Denise Mudigere of McDermott Will & Emery LLP served as counsel for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on behalf of the U.S. Chamber Litigation Center.
