2016 proved to be a busy year in Washington, D.C. No place experienced that more than the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber hosted countless events with visiting heads of state along with business leaders and policy experts. Beyond that, numerous Chamber employees participated in hundreds of interviews with print, broadcast, and digital outlets.

Each and every one of these actions helped the Chamber further its priority of expanding opportunity for American businesses.

The Chamber hosted the State of American Business at the beginning of the year. Tom Donohue shared the Chamber's priorities for the coming year with business leaders and Chamber members from across the country.

Myron Brilliant showed Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull around the Chamber. Prime Minister Turnbull spoke about opportunities for expanding the U.S.-Australian relationship at a breakfast held in his honor.

Tami Overby welcomed H.E. Prayut Chan-o-cha, prime minister of Thailand, to a dinner held in his honor, where he gave remarks about the importance of the U.S.-Thai bilateral relationship.

John Murphy moderated a panel conversation about the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). Among the participants was Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen.

Indian Prime Minister Narenda Modi participated in the U.S.-India Business Council's 41st Annual Leadership Summit. Prime Minister Modi discussed the future of his nation's growth with Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos. 


Tom Donohue spoke at the Nasdaq MarketSite about fueling and funding economic growth in the U.S. 


America’s Small Business Summit attendees hit Capitol Hill

America's Small Business Summit attendees took to Capitol Hill to meet with elected officials. They also penned some advice for Congressional candidates. 


Tom Donohue appeared on FOX’s “Mornings with Maria” at the RNC

The Chamber was present at both the Republican and Democratic National Conventions. At the RNC, Tom Donohue appeared on Fox Business Network's "Mornings with Maria." Donohue and host Maria Bartiromo talked about presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump's business policies. 


Randy Johnson and JD Foster at the Chamber's annual Labor Day Briefing

At this year's Labor Day Briefing, Randy Johnson and J.D. Foster tackled the Chamber's priorities for the remaining days of the 114th Congress. Among these were labor regulations.

Tom Donohue introduced Former Massachusetts Governor and keynote speaker Mitt Romney at this year's Institute for Legal Reform Summit. In his address, Romney spoke about the legal climate needed in America to bolster competitiveness and enterprise

The Chamber's U.S.-Africa Business Center awarded Senegalese President Macky Sall with its Outstanding Leaders Award due to his promotion of free enterprise in West Africa.
