To the Members of the U.S. House of Representatives:

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce strongly supports H.R. 4468, the “Choice in Automobile Retail Sales (CARS) Act” and urges you to vote in favor of this legislation.  The Chamber will consider including votes on this legislation in our How They Voted Scorecard.

EPA’s proposed emissions standard rule for light and medium vehicles is another example of regulatory overreach that threatens U.S. economic competitiveness and harm American consumers who are already reeling from historic inflation.  When added to growing auto sector challenges related to rising labor costs, global competition, and long-term inflation and supply chain difficulties, this proposed regulatory burden could exacerbate sectoral headwinds and damage the economy.  The CARS Act would prevent this rule from being finalized and force EPA to propose a realistic rule that could be implemented without such negative economic impacts.
