American business should reflect the rich diversity of our vibrant nation. Diversity and inclusion in business is not only right for our society, it is good for our economy.

Diversity spurs innovation and creativity, which lead to greater business success. The diverse business community is a key driver of America’s economic success. When businesses recognize and embrace the value of different background and perspectives, they are better able to create value, serve customers, support employees, remain relevant, and succeed and grow. And by expanding opportunity to more individuals, they help lift up communities, and they contribute immeasurably to the health, prosperity, and competitiveness of our nation and our society.

Equality of Opportunity Agenda

Driven by data and informed by conversations with business, government, academic, and civic leaders, we developed an initial Equality of Opportunity Agenda to advance private sector solutions and best practices, scale impactful programs, and drive policy action at the federal, state, and local level.

Projects and Programs

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is a leading advocate, convener, and resource for driving diversity and inclusion in business. The following programs and initiatives are intended to create new business relationships and partnerships across diverse audiences. We partner and collaborate with diverse chambers and business organizations to advance our common business agenda.

The Chamber is working to support the growing needs of corporations in these areas: 

Workforce & Talent Pipeline 

  • Ensure equal opportunity to career paths that lead to jobs, and workforce initiatives that create a more equitable talent marketplace and strengthen the American economy.  
  • Assist companies with the development of workforce diversity initiatives. 
  • Develop diverse talent pipelines for C-Suite and corporate Boards. 

Diverse Owned Companies & Entrepreneurship 

  • Help diverse businesses grow the economy and create jobs. Enable diverse entrepreneurs to equally participate in the free-enterprise system.   
  • Promote diversity across all levels of business, support minority-owned enterprises and entrepreneurs, and make the business case for closing the racial equity gap.  

Policy & Advocacy 

  • Advocate for policy that advances diversity, equity, and inclusion in business and lead efforts to remove barriers standing between people and opportunity.  
  • Convene diverse chambers and other minority business organizations to discuss policy issues and speak with a collective voice.
